About Dufailly, Haiti

*Dufailly
The children of Dufailly live in a rural town in the central mountains of Haiti. Dufailly is about 45 miles from Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti and has about 5,000 inhabitants. Most families in Haiti live on less than one dollar per day. This fact makes school a costly proposition for most since education in Haiti is not free.
Parents of this impoverished nation find themselves negotiating between going without food and other life necessities or using their subsistence to pay for their kids to go to school. Recognizing those difficult and challenging needs, ECACEB was created by the Jeremie family and a few friends thirty years ago to help those families and children who could not afford it, to go to school.
Our total student population is currently 350 students. Our primary goal is to give these children a strong academic foundation which prepares them for the economic realities they face both today and in the future. Breaking out of the cycle of their generational, heart-wrenching poverty is now a possibility for them.
